A soldier from the 10th Świętokrzyska Brigade of Territorial Defence proved to be the winner of the utility and combat competitions in the speciality of the sharpshooter in WOT. The rivalry organized by the Territorial Defence Army Training Center was faced by three-man teams from the 10 territorial defence brigades. It was to choice not only the best shooters, but besides the best teams, which would be the fastest and best able to handle shooting, endurance and tactical tasks.

The players competed in three-man teams. On the first day, competitions at the camp close Toruń were held in static shooting, i.e. for stationary purposes located at various distances, up to 600 m maximum. On the second day of the competition, it was time to test the skills of non-straight shooting – observation, recognition, endurance, etc. Teams entered the tactical loop, which they were expected to overcome on time, while performing many tasks, specified as, among others, crawling into positions, occupying weapon positions and identifying with optical instruments the distance from the targets that were on the field, while simultaneously giving instructors appropriate targeting, allowing for effective fire. Another task was to observe military equipment and find on the basis of its silhouettes belonging to a peculiar abroad army. Participants besides had to execute the CFF (Call For Fire) procedure, fold and deploy their weapons in time with their eyes covered or evacuate the wounded from the battlefield.
– The aim was to test the full cognition and comprehensive skills of soldiers, including those who are extra-gunners, who gotta show up all day, i.e. skills in recognition, observation, shooting positions. Of course, roles and teamwork were important. By linking shootings to fitness tasks, we besides tested the ability of the soldier to carry out effective fire, with large physical fatigue, immediately after performance tasks, erstwhile it is known that focusing and effective fire is much more hard – says Lt. Daniel Woś, the spokesperson of the Training Centre for Territorial Defence.

There was besides a ten-kilometre night march, to check, among others, their ability to orientation in the field and to decision utilizing the map. The mission of the participants was to find various elements hidden on the way of the march.
On the 3rd day, soldiers had to show the ability to shoot decently in various shooting attitudes, after defeating the obstacle track, during which they were tasked to decision 60 m by 2 30-pound ammunition boxes. Then they waited for them to crawl on a 30 m section under barbed wire and shoot from respective positions to gungs: from behind the cover, utilizing three-legged rifles, as well as the back of the partner on which the shooter based the rifle. The competition was on time.
Best teams and best shooters
In the classification of territorial defence brigade teams, the squad of the 10th Świętokrzyska Territorial Defence Brigade (10th Świętokrzyska Świętokrzyska Świętokrzyska Świętokrzyska Świętokrzyska Świętowej Świętokrzyska Świętokrzyska Świętoral Defence Brigade (10th Święt), and the 3rd soldiers of the 11th Małopolska Territorial Defence Brigade (11 MBOT).
A soldier from the 10th Świętokrzyska Territorial Defence Brigade turned out to be uncompetitive in the rivalry of the marksmen. The best shooter in the WOT ranks has served in this formation for 3 years, while the sharpshooter has been a sharpshooter for a year and a half. He made his first appearance in the Toruń competition. Although he enjoys success, he does not want to halt over him any longer, for which he thanks primarily his unit.

– I am satisfied first of all with your shootings on the 3rd day of the competition, so with different positions, erstwhile tired, after defeating the obstacle track, erstwhile it is known that the circulation is faster, that to shoot accurately, you request to calm your breath, etc. In addition, it is fire from different positions, including based on squad partner. The competition is our motivation for further work. First of all, I thank my commanders, our brigade instructors. Without them, it would not be a success," he concludes.
