Chemical plants “Nitro-Chem” SA have signed an agreement with PROZAP, which is part of the Azota Group, to plan another production line of TNT. The cost of building it will be over a billion zlotys, but this will let the Bydgoszcz company to double the production of explosives that goes to bombs and missiles. Plans presume the production of 20,000 tonnes of TNT per year.
Bydgoszcz Nitro-Chem is Europe's largest maker of TNT and at the same time 1 of the largest in the world. The company – belonging to the Polish Armed Forces Group – has been providing this explosive to the native army and ammunition production plants for many years, is besides key supplier of TNT for US Armed Forces. “This is our main export product, which is highly crucial in today’s safety challenges,” said Adam Leszkiewicz, president of PGZ. At the same time, it points out that Nitro-Chem's biggest problem is besides small manufacturing capacity compared to demand. The group and the company want to change that.
He has the aid of an agreement today. In the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski and Deputy Minister of State Assets Konrad Gołota, Nitro-Chem signed with PROZAP Sp. z o.o. (the company is part of the Azota Group) an agreement to plan a fresh line for the production of TNT. Thanks to the investment, the company intends to double the quantity of TNT produced – from 10,000 tonnes to over 20,000 tonnes per year. Nitro-Chemu representatives emphasize that specified a step is an absolute necessity. – The investment will not only let us to importantly increase our production capacity, but will besides guarantee stableness of supply for home and abroad partners. The fresh installation will prepare us for further increase in request in the defence sector,” said Roman Jastrowski, manager of Production of Chemical Plants "Nitro-Chem" SA.
Adam Leszkiewicz announced that in order to finance the investment in Nitro-Chemie, whose value is initially estimated at PLN billion to PLN 1.5 billion, the PGZ intends to scope for “any available source”. – Of course, we are reasoning about the Capital Investment Fund, but not only. We're reasoning of our own commitment as the Polish Armed Forces Group. We are besides talking to private-market financial partners and our banking partners," said the president of PGZ. He added that the precedence was to start a fresh production line as shortly as possible. “We want to do this in the next 4 years,” said Leszkiewicz.
Nitro-Chem is presently the largest Polish exporter of defence products. Outside the United States, the company sells TNT to Canada, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, large Britain and France.
