A CBOS survey published on Tuesday asked Poles about their preferences regarding US presidential candidates and predictions about the results of the upcoming elections in the United States. Surprisingly, half of the respondents identified US Vice president Kamala Harris as their favorite, while 25% of respondents supported erstwhile president Donald Trump. The survey reveals how Poles, looking through the prism of political views, disagree in opinions about the possible winners of next year's elections.
According to a CBOS poll, Kamala Harris gained the highest support among Poles – 50% of respondents indicated her as the desired president of the United States. Trump as the leader of America would be more pleased to see only 25 percent of respondents, which shows its lower popularity in Poland. It is worth noting that 12 percent of respondents declared that they did not support any of these candidates, while another 12 percent expressed difficulty with a clear indication of the favourite.
The results of the survey are clearly reflected in the division due to political and ideological preferences. Harris leads most socio-demographic categories – from sex to residence. However, among those who identify with the right, Trump enjoys greater support (45%), as does more spiritual citizens who regularly practice faith. In this group Trump won as many as 55 percent of the votes as Harris gained the support of 23 percent of respondents.

Differences in Poles' preferences besides uncover political differences. According to the results, voters of the Civic Coalition (KO) and the Left powerfully advocate Harris – it is supported by 89% of the supporters of the KO and 88% of the left-wing voters. besides 60% of 3rd Way sympathizers pointed out Harris as a better U.S. presidential candidate. Interestingly, Harris enjoys little support among PiS voters (32%) and the Confederation (16%).
Donald Trump, on the another hand, attracts more attention among conservative voters, especially the Confederates, where as many as 62% of respondents supported him. besides in the electorate of PiS Trump has strong support – 54 percent of the voters of this organization would be more likely to see him in the seat of the president of the United States. little enthusiastic attitude was demonstrated by 3rd Way sympathizers (27 percent support). In the case of voters of the Left and KO only marginal interest indicated Trump – 4% and 2% of votes respectively.

Harris with the top chance of winning, although Trump is stepping on her heels
In a question of predictions about the result of the upcoming election, 40% of respondents pointed out Kamala Harris as the likely winner of the presidential election, and 37% believe Donald Trump will win them. These results show a comparatively akin level of support that reflects a tense atmosphere of rivalry on the American political scene.
The study, conducted by CATI method from 21 to 24 October 2024, included a typical group of 1,000 adult Poles. The results of the survey besides reflect clear differences in the perception of American politics by Poles, who express their sympathy and priorities by selecting their favourite candidate.
