Cathay Pacific Restarts Rome Flights

Cathay Pacific’s (CX) new Hong Kong (HKG)-Rome (FCO) service adds to its existing five weekly flights to Milan, which will increase to daily service this summer.

Rome becomes the airline’s second Italian destination, reflecting a strong commitment to European connectivity.

Flight schedules (local times, subject to change and regulatory approval):

Flight Number Departure Arrival Departure Time Arrival Time Frequency
CX293 Hong Kong (HKG) Rome (FCO) 00:45 07:50 Mon, Thur, Sat
CX292 Rome (FCO) Hong Kong (HKG) 11:45 05:20+1 Mon, Thur, Sat

The new service is timely as Rome prepares for the 2025 Year of Jubilee, a religious and cultural event held every 25 years that attracts millions of visitors.

Vatican City and Rome will host a series of events and celebrations throughout the year, making this a convenient connection for travelers from Asia.

Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, emphasized the airline’s longstanding ties to Italy, dating back to 1986 when direct flights to Rome first launched.

“We know our customers have been eagerly anticipating the return of this route, and we are delighted to be returning to Italy’s marvelous capital this summer,” Lau said.

The Rome service will operate on Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering a range of seating options for different travel needs:

  • Business Class: Fully flat beds for optimal comfort.
  • Premium Economy: Spacious seating for enhanced relaxation.
  • Economy Class: Comfortable cabins for budget-conscious travelers.

Cathay Pacific’s Vision

Cathay Pacific is committed to reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a global aviation hub. In 2025, the airline plans to connect six additional cities to its network: Hyderabad in March, Dallas in April, Munich in June, Brussels in August, and Rome in June.

Meanwhile, HK Express (UO), the Group’s low-cost carrier, is launching flights to Sendai in January.

By year-end, the Cathay Group aims to operate passenger services to 100 destinations worldwide, leveraging Hong Kong as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region.

This includes 19 destinations in the Chinese Mainland served by Cathay Pacific and HK Express.
