Czesława Owczarzyk, ps. "The Swallow", surviving close Pisza Kombatantka of the National Army, was promoted to captain. It is simply a symbol of appreciation and thanks for her contribution to the fight for independent Poland. The erstwhile liaison and orderly of the Łomzhyn territory of the AK celebrated a hundred-fifth birthday at the beginning of this year.
"Jaskoółka" is 1 of the last representatives of the generation of Poles who entered adulthood just before the outbreak of planet War II. She was born in 1920 in the vicinity of Kolna (short before the war it was the Warsaw Voivodeship, now - Podlasie). Like many of her young compatriots, during the business she became active in the underground of independence. erstwhile asked about the motivation that led her at the time, Mrs Czesława answers: - Patriotism, it's clear due to the fact that I wanted Poland to be free. So we don't live under the enemy's whip.
Czesława Owczarczyk has completed a conspiratorial training of the orderly, under the supervision of Dr. Czarnecki, a doctor from the Cologne Hospital. But above all, she was a linker of the Khomzhny territory of the Home Army in Area Five, which included her hometown. - Organizationally she was most likely assigned to the AK Mały Płock facility, which at the end of the business exhibited Company No. 4. It had more than 200 soldiers. In 1943, the company's commander was, unidentified by his name, a deputy reserve named "Sleep". Later, the company was commanded by Lieutenant of Reserve Eugeniusz Galinski, ps. "Soból" - says Dr. Waldemar Brenda, historian of the Olsztyn delegation of the Institute of National Memory.
- I'm sorry. Ms Czesława has provided information between the AK troops, including about German troops stationed in the vicinity and the movement of enemy troops - added Colonel Paweł Supinski, commander of the 44th Light Infantry Battalion in Elk, which is part of the 4th Warmia-Masurian Territorial Defence Brigade.
The Territorial Defence Army, since the formation of this formation, has been taking care of the National Army's veterans whose traditions they inherit. The 4th brigade maintains constant contact with veterans, and its soldiers - according to their motto - are "always close" to the heroes of fighting for Polish independence.
After the war Czesława Owczarzyk moved to Mazury, she lives with her household in Lysonia, close Pisa. In January of that year, she celebrated a 100 and 5 birthdays. Now "The Swallow" and her loved ones had another reason to celebrate: the combatant was promoted to captain. The act of appointment, on behalf of the Minister of National Defence, was handed by Colonel Mirosław Morawski, Head of the Military Recruitment Centre in Elk. The ceremony, organized in the Kombatant's house, was besides attended by Colonel Paweł Supiński, commander of the 44th Light Infantry Battalion in Elk, and representatives of local governments.
