As the deputy president of the Urszula Augustyn (KO) committee informed, on 19 November a request was received to the Committee on Culture, National Heritage and the Means of Transmission for the removal of Mr Piotr Adamowicz from the position of president of the committee.

"The main reason for the proposal is that from the beginning, the President, in the rule of common work in this committee, does not respect the fundamental principles of democracy," said Mr Piotr Gliński (PiS). As an example, he mentioned the removal of the right to vote, the shortening of statements, “the closure of committees or deliberations erstwhile it is politically convenient for you; Parliamentary debate specified as should not be on the committee”.

In making a proposal against Mrs Augustyn, she pointed out that she would not "talk like Mr Gliński did very beautifully and quaintly." – But this was proof of how opposition in the work of this committee is being mistreated. At all gathering of the committee, Mr Gliński has the chance to give half-hours of tirade, nobody disturbs him, he does it freely, she noted.

– It's not actual we're taking anyone's vote. Nor do we, and I think that the President, in the habit of censoring another people's speeches, likewise. If you consider it a scandal to let the Minister of Culture to vote in a committee of culture, then we do not realize each another – Augustyn stressed. “We are all working together to make a committee’s work plan and this work plan can besides be created with us,” she added.

MP Wojciech Król (KO) submitted a formal application for an immediate transition to the vote. – I think that the essence of our work is substantive work and we should make a decision as a committee. (...) due to the fact that citizens, citizens anticipate us to work, not to discuss individual matters about who does not like the chair of the committee, Adamowicz said.

Members supported the proposal. Then The majority of committee members rejected the request for the dismissal of Mr Piotr Adamowicz as chairman.

Piotr Adamowicz was elected president of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture in mid-June 2024. At the time, the change in the committee bureau was due to the election of its erstwhile president Bogdan Zdrojewski to the European Parliament.

In the Past Adamowicz worked as a writer for many years. He was tied up among others. with Agence France-Presse, Reuters, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, “The Life of Warsaw” and “Rzeczpospolita”. He was first elected to the Sejm in the fall of 2019 and obtained re-election 4 years later.
