I present another interview conducted as part of the first task “Meeting with a Witness of Ukrainian Genocide in Poles”. These are the moving memories of Mrs Kazimiera Siwon (born 1924) from Calus.
– When the Russians entered, what did Poles do? They walked like vicious sheep. Ukrainians and Jews were so happy, so happy, so happy that Poland is not here... I wondered why. After all, in Poland everything was equal. Nothing Poles had better than them – mentioned Kazimiera. – The judaic female shouted “no Poland, no Poland”.
1943 came. For months after night, my household had been hiding in potato fields and in a potassium salt mine. Then, in Kałusz, a village of more than 25,000 inhabitants, streams of blood flowed. Criminally carried out by Ukrainian neighbors armed by the Germans.
– That's the password they had: Fuck the Lachs. It was their password. Not Poles. With specified contempt that they are not Poles, they are Lachy – ugly Lachy! – remembers and lies thesis about Polish soldiers who were to look at genocide idle. The Poles were defended by tiny troops of the National Army, and the Hungarians armed them.
– If it wasn't for the Hungarians, I wouldn't be here today. – notes.
The full interview with the appropriate comment was published in volume II of the book Neighbours. Last Witnesses of Ukrainian genocide in Poles”, which is available HERE.
