The United Kingdom extended its RAF air force's participation in the NATO East defender mission until the end of the year. The head of the Defence Ministry added that the intent of extending engagement is "to deter Russian leader Vladimir Putin from further investigating the Alliance".
NATO launched the East defender mission on 13 September to strengthen the Alliance's east flank. This decision was the consequence of Russian drones entering Polish airspace on the night of 9th to 10th September.
Mass deliveries of drones for Ukraine
In six months of 2025, the United Kingdom supplied Ukraine with more than 85,000 military drones produced in British factories. Minister John Healey revealed for the first time that London has invested £600 million in speeding up the supply of drones to Ukrainian armed forces.
