We defend “Fire” on the anniversary of death Mr. Major - the communicative of the hero's memory struggle
date:21 February 2019 Editor: Editorial

We print a protest by the Soldier Families Association against the judgement of the court in 2019.

The territory Court in Nowy Sącz dismissed the request for compensation to the boy of Major Józef Kurasia – Zbigniew Kurasi – for the repression of communists against the household in connection with the fight of “War” for the independency of the Homeland. Why? The judges questioned Kurasia's activities for the independent existence of the Polish state and his persecution by the communist regime. It was besides added that the death of the Fire "was not the consequence of law enforcement or justice, but was the consequence of a circumstantial decision taken by it itself".
As an Association of Families of Cursed Soldiers – on the anniversary of the death of Major Joseph Kuras 22 February 1947 - definitely
We protest against specified unjustified and false arguments. The Institute of National Memory has sufficiently and unequivocally determined that Major Józef Kuraś “Fire” fought for the freedom and independency of Poland and died in connection with this fight.
On February 21, 1947, "Fire" was surrounded by a communist operational group of the interior safety Corps in Ostrowsk close Nowy Targ. After a fierce fight, he tried to take his own life without wanting to fall into the hands of the oppressors. Transferred to a infirmary in Nowy Targ, he died after a fewer hours. To this day, it is unknown where Major Kuras was buried. Therefore, we call on the qualified institutions of the Polish State to proceed intensive search for temporal remains Mr. Major.
At the same time, we would like to rise a question which does not concern the “Fire” and its family, but another people who effort or can search compensation and redress from Poland. We wanted to emphasize that people who may be children of the Polish Academy of Sciences but during the period of the Polish People's Republic belonged to or cooperated with the apparatus of repression, communist political parties do not, in our opinion, have moral legitimacy for specified claims from the brightest Republic. specified persons cannot belong to our Association and have no support.
