In Podkarpacie, police detained a 68-year-old doctor, a specialist in interior diseases and cardiology, against whom the prosecution has filed over 500 corruption charges. On 16 September 2025, the prosecutor announced to the fishy 510 allegations under Article 228(1) of the Penal Code concerning the acceptance of property benefits from patients in connection with their public office. (...) According to the findings of the investigation, the benefits were both money – in amounts ranging from 20 to 200 PLN – as well as branded alcohols. The full value of the benefits received exceeded PLN 55 thousand. The allegations have been supplemented by a qualification under Article 65(1) of the Criminal Code, indicating that crimes have been committed as a permanent origin of income," we read in the Communication from the territory Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów. Bribery for issuing medical certificates The case shook the local community due to the fact that the man enjoyed the trust of patients for years and held a liable function in the local wellness Care Team. According to investigators, the doctor was to take property benefits in exchange for issuing medical certificates and beneficial patient decisions. Officers secured medical records and interviewed witnesses who confirmed suspicions of systematically receiving bribes. The court sent him to jail for 3 months, the fishy confessed to the alleged acts, provided explanations and expressed remorse. At the request of the prosecutor, the territory Court of Rzeszów applied 3 months' interim detention to the doctor. He is facing punishment for up to 12 years in prison. The case is developmental, and the D.A.'s office does not regulation out that the list of charges will be extended. – all form of corruption undermines assurance in public institutions, especially as crucial as wellness care," the investigators emphasize.
