The head of the Iranian football federation Mehdi Taj is slowing speculation: Tehran boycotts the U.S., but not the Mundial. In a published recording, he confirmed that the representation was usually preparing for the tournament.
Until recently, the message was completely different. Iranian diplomacy suggested the scenes of talks with FIFA about moving matches from the US to Mexico. The organization is silent, but Mexico's president Claudia Sheinbaum has declared herself ready to accept Iranian staff.
Today, however, the script of the boycott of the mundial is moving away.
The tournament, co-organised by the USA, Mexico and Canada, will take place from 11 June to 19 July.
