In February 2023, the Polish authorities closed the road border crossings with Belarus, justifying this decision with fears of an influx of illegal immigrants. Carriers from Central Asia, especially Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, have been forced to look for alternate road connections. The trade in goods has not collapsed, but it is taking place bypassing Polish.
