Bodnar has repeatedly publically declared a fight against hatred speech and hatred speech. I guess he forgot to add that this fight seems only to be about cases where the victim is individual from a political “friend club”.
A 66-year-old pensioner wrote a short comment under George Owsiak's Facebook post: “Die man”. Within 2 days the case was dealt with by the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime, and a group consisting of, among others, deputy chief of the city, chief of the criminal department and operational officer went to halt it. The post appeared on January 12, 2025. The announcement was submitted by lawyer Jerzy Owsiak on 14 January. The same day the police were on their way.
According to the press, a female was charged without questioning the victim.
If you ask Minister Bodnar present whether these actions were political in nature—because Mr Owsiak is simply a friend of Donald Tusk and a symbolic figure of the power camp—the answer would most likely be, “Of course not.” The question is: Can all citizen in Poland present number on specified a fast and decisive reaction from prosecutors and police in case of hate?
Common sense says he should. Bodnar himself has publically declared a fight against hatred speech. He forgot to add that this fight only seems to concern cases where the victim is individual from a political “friend club”.
Get to know Mr. Thomas' story. Mr. Thomas is simply a sick man — a victim of another crime — who has fallen victim to unparadoxed hatred and criminal threats. Unlike the words of the pensioner, his perpetrators openly called for his murder, frequently in a detailed and vulgar manner, describing the methods of “execution”. any of them posed on social media with guns.
Mr. Thomas, terrified, locked himself in the house. He reported the case to respective prosecutors and police stations. Importantly, he provided data that immediately identified the perpetrators — in any cases he had telephone numbers.
And... silence fell.
The local police station showed compassion and willingness to help, but his hands were tied. After 3 weeks, Mr. Thomas answered the phone. He heard not about the arrest of the perpetrators, not about the charges, but about the request that... in a free minute he come to report. Meanwhile, 1 of the Warsaw prosecutors for six weeks - silence.
Mr. Thomas heard from a lawyer friend a brutally honest diagnosis:
"They don't want this case. There will be no investigation. Oatmeal was a show. You're the problem. They'll come up with a reason to refuse or die. compose a complaint to the court already.”
The procedure is clear:
1. study of crime.
2. proceeding of the victim.
3. Decision to initiate the procedure.
4. Investigative activities.
5. Possible charges.
6th Charge.
For Oatsiak, points 1 to 6 in 2 days.
In the case of Mr. Thomas, after six weeks, the second point was not even realised in most prosecutors' offices.
Mr. Bodnar, are you inactive saying that your prosecution's actions are not political?
When you go to vote on Sunday, ask yourselves:
Do you want a president who supports people for whom a average citizen is just a problem to ignore?
Because, like a meaningless problem, Mr. Thomas is feeling today. And he can't be surprised. "I trusted Bodnar that he truly wanted to fight hate. I was naive.” So says Mr. Thomas, the victim of violent threats on the Internet, who is inactive waiting for any reaction from the prosecutor. If he had not been a ‘ordinary citizen’, possibly things would have been different. Sad.
