Former U.S. president Joe Biden relied on note cards even during private meetings, including his cabinet meetings," reported reporters Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson in his book "Original Sin: president Biden's Fading President, his cover-up, and the disastrous decision to run again" ("First-born Sin: president Biden's fall, his cover-up and disastrous decision to re-run" – ed.).
"Because he had difficulty expressing his thoughts, advisors and co-workers noticed that he was increasingly relying on teleprompters and notes. This even included meetings behind closed doors, specified as cabinet meetings. Before specified meetings, White home staff called various departments and agencies to find out what questions they were going to ask the president so they could prepare answers in advance. The talks were mostly descripted, even after the press left the room," we read in the book.
The authors study that any members of the cabinet felt that Biden in fact relied even more on cards erstwhile journalists were not around.
"The cabinet meetings were horrible and sometimes awkward – and they were from the very beginning .... I do not callback any good gathering of the cabinet erstwhile it comes to his (Bidena – ed.) participation. They were so staged" – the authors quote the erstwhile minister, who spoke to them under the condition of anonymity.
"First-born sin" will appear a fewer days after the news that Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer. There was no mention of a postponement of the publication premiere in light of the diagnosis of the erstwhile president.
Biden's wellness and ability to exercise office were questioned during his presidency, as at that time, at the age of 81, he was the oldest among the U.S. leaders, repeatedly publically losing balance, mixing the parties and raising objections, frequently absurd. During his investigation into irregularities in Biden's possession of classified documents, the prosecutor in the case described the then US leader as a "older man with good intentions and memory problems", stating that he had even forgotten crucial household dates during interrogations.
In July 2024, following a failed debate with Donald Trump, Joe Biden announced his decision to retreat from the presidential race. In his place, Biden nominated Vice president Kamala Harris as Democratic organization candidate for president.
