Bialiatski: I was persuaded to sign a request for clemency, but I did not do so

After his release from prison on Saturday, Belarusian human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski admitted that he had been urged unsuccessfully to sign a request for clemency to Belarusian leader Ales Lukashenko. Another freed activist Marya Kalesnikava called for the release of hundreds of political prisoners inactive held by the regime.
