After Paris – Warsaw


After his stay in Paris, Friedrich Merz will go to Warsaw, where he will meet Donald Tuski. congratulating him on his election as Chancellor of Germany, the Polish Prime Minister wrote on platform X: "Congratulations to Friedrich Merz! And I'll see you in Warsaw tomorrow, Chancellor."

Merz will start his office with a visit to Warsaw and Paris, the head of the Polish government informed already in mid-April. The journey to the capital of France and Poland was besides announced by Merz, who wants to revive relations with France and Poland.

Improve relations with Poland


The coalition agreement of the CDU, CSU and Social Democracy SPD states, among others: "We besides want to further make relationship with our east neighbour, Poland. In the Weimar Triangle, we will search close coordination on all applicable issues of European policy so that we can act more unanimously in the service of the full EU."

The journey to Paris and Warsaw on the same day – on 7 May, just after taking up government – can already be considered symbolic for these plans. Cooperation between the fresh German Chancellor and Prime Minister Donald Tuski is besides expected to facilitate "better chemistry" than in the case of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
