The Gopers lowered on Tuesday evening to the first phase of avalanche threat on Babia Góra in Beskids. It is presently low. So far, there has been a higher, second degree.
"Low avalanche hazard occurs mainly in places where snow has been increased from fresh rainfall. This is the wrong, very steep slopes and places for breaking ground," said the rescuers of the Beskid Group GOPR.
Paramedics reported that there is 70-80 cm of snow in the highest parts of Babia Góra.
The avalanche threat is determined on a five-stage, increasing scale.
