In fresh days, the media detailedly described the US attack on Venezuela and then the full planet watched US action in the Atlantic. The portal TheWarZone (TWZ) took a look at the activities in which transport aircraft and storm helicopters were assembled in the UK. At the time, the average predicted that this could be a signal that the United States would effort to take over a tanker with Venezuelan oil that flee to Russia.
U.S. action complete. Russian oil tanker taken over
The U.S. Coast defender has already followed a tanker known as Bella-1. The first reports of attempts to occupy the unit appeared in the media last December. Meanwhile, a Russian flag was painted on board the ship and its name was changed to Mariner.
The U.S. action in which the unit was pursued lasted 2 weeks. Reuters' agency reported that Bella-1/Mariner's tanker had penetrated the U.S. naval "block" that included sanctioned units. The crew rejected attempts to board the U.S. Coast Guard.
"The Justice Department and the United States Department of National safety in coordination with the War Department announced present the business of [ship] M/V Bella 1 for violating US sanctions. The ship was seized in the North Atlantic on the basis of a warrant issued by the U.S. national court after being tracked by USCGC Munro", notified the United States Command (EUCOM) on Wednesday, January 7, via X service.
The Reuter Agency reached 2 U.S. government officials. The media spoke anonymously about the engagement of the Coast defender and US military. According to Russia Today, helicopters were to be utilized to board the tanker.
Mariner (previously Bella-1) is simply a tanker that is part of a "shadow float", or group of oil transport units to Russia (with no sanctions). On January 6, Reuter's agency reported that the Russians had besides dispatched their regular warships to escort the unit.
Maybe they didn't get close adequate to the oil tanker before the U.S. operation ended. The X service featured footage from the action.
As the media point out, the takeover may make additional tensions in relations between the United States and Russia.
