"Behavioral" experiments before we hit the front

On 1 September 1983, an aircraft of the Korean Airlines flying from Japan to South Korea (flight 007) decided to shorten its way and fly through USSR territory for unknown reasons. It's hard to talk about a mistake due to the fact that passenger Boeing flew a fewer 100 kilometers into russian space.
