Don't you want to vote for any of the candidates? You may shortly have that opportunity. The legislature will address a citizen's petition, which demands that "none of the above" should appear on the ballots. The thought already has thousands of supporters – and equally many opponents.

The Łódź Institute of civilian Affairs believes that voters should be able to give an crucial vote besides erstwhile they do not indicate any of the candidates - writes "Rzeczpospolita".

As we read in Thursday's "Rzeczpospolita", according to a petition prepared by the Łódź Institute of civilian Affairs and signed by 5.7 1000 people, the "None of the above" should appear on the ballots. This proposal will be handled by the Senate.

The Institute estimates that in the last election of 29.4 million eligible voters as many as 8.5 million voted invalid.

"Rz" reports that "The civilian Affairs Institute has been campaigning since 2014 +None of the above+ and is not isolated in its view".

"I realize the arguments of the applicants, but I believe that this is simply a solution that could rise constitutional objections" - says the head of the parliamentary subcommittee for the amendment of electoral law Mariusz Witczak (KO). "Besides, it is now possible to vote legally empty or intentionally invalid, e.g. to decide more than 1 cross," he adds.

"As the Institute of civilian Affairs notes, a negative vote has been introduced primarily in Spain among European countries, and in Belgium, France and Spain the voter has the right to cast an empty vote, which is included in the full number of crucial votes cast in the elections. The petition besides states that the anticipation of giving an crucial vote expressing opposition to all candidates was introduced in 2013 in India" - writes "Rz".(PAP)
