Six children died within 24 hours in Bangladesh due to measles, reported the regular Star today, citing the authoritative wellness services. Thus in the country since mid-March, the number of fatalities has increased to 594.
A full of nearly 75,000 measles infections were reported in the country.
The measles is among the most infectious diseases in the world. The virus can last in the air or on the surface for 2 hours, and each infected individual is able to infect even respective more people. In order to avoid illness, 95 percent of the population must be vaccinated with a full dose of vaccine.
The complications of measles include otitis media, lungs, brain and heart muscle, extraocular optic neuritis that can lead to failure of vision. Neurological complications — acute encephalitis and subacute encephalitis — are peculiarly dangerous.
