Banderism flourishes in Ukraine. The problem is growing

Recently we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Volyn massacre. It was an chance to celebrate the memory of the victims. At the same time, the issue of cultural cleansing initiators, who gained the position of national heroes, returned.

Banderism has flourished in Ukraine since the early 1990s. Since the launch of the alleged “special operation”, it has accelerated the maturation of this ideology and transformed it into an authoritative state doctrine.
In March 2021, the Tarnopol authorities gave the stadium the name Roman Szuchewycz, the commander of UPA, liable for the genocide of Poles. akin movements took place in another Ukrainian cities, especially at its western ends. Monuments grow even during this war.
After independency in the early 1990s. The flag gradually became a national hero. His image began to be cleansed, and in time described as a prominent Ukrainian. There was quite a few Bandera biography, kept in this false spirit. Many Ukrainians have small thought of the real Stepan Bandera. This does not mean that the mythological image of the UPA chief is taken uncritically.
The flag and its movement inactive divide Ukrainian society. In the east, before 2014, exhibitions were held, devoted to the biography of Bandera. The action was considered educational. It was intended to change the way the inhabitants of these areas perceive Bandera. Convince them that the mainstream transmission about this character is rigged.
Average Ukrainians have small awareness of what took place in Volyn from 1943 to 1945. This especially applies to Ukrainians who do not live in these areas. In times of the russian Union, this event was not mentioned at all. The average inhabitants of Volyn, who remembered those events, preferred to keep quiet about them. They were aware that UPA had no good image. The publicizing of the Volyn slaughterhouse even more compromised this image.
Intelligence officials approach the problem completely differently. Mirosław Popowicz, 1 of the most celebrated contemporary Ukrainian philosophers, worked at 1 time as a past teacher in 1 of the agrarian schools in Volyn. He interviewed witnesses of the Volyn massacre. He was profoundly convinced that this tragedy should be discussed. Ukrainians were victims of crimes from another nationalities, but besides committed crimes themselves. This fact cannot be denied. Unfortunately, in fresh times more intellectuals have favored the designation of Bandera worship. Those who argue are shouted, challenged by the “Russian agent” and traitors.
In this way, Private Ukrainians, Bandera's individual begins to associate primarily with the fight against the ZSRS and the Communists. They do not associate him with actions against Poles. They treat the Glory of the UPA in terms of action aimed at Poland, but as opposition to the russian Union and the actions of Russia today.

The past of flagism is burdened with ideological baggage, which does not adhere to modern times. This is the baggage of political terror, authoritarianism, chauvinism, xenophobia and intolerance. From an ethical point of view, these are unacceptable elements. With Bandera, you can't enter civilized Europe.
All the more amazing is the permissiveness, especially in Poland, towards Nazi crosses painted on Ukrainian combat vehicles or red black flags on state offices. This indulgence will yet take revenge. Glorifying criminals from the CNS/UPA, while ignoring the genocide they committed, can do quite a few damage. This undermines relations with Poland, a country which is presently the only ally of Ukraine in the region.
Today, as the war with Russia continues, in the West, we turn a blind eye to Bandera worship. After its completion, regardless of the result, Ukraine will be accounted for, including by Jews. Banderism so poses a threat to Ukraine's security. It's a delayed ignition bomb that's about to explode. Either it comes to fresh Ukrainian cultural cleansing, or it comes to the full loneliness of this country internationally.
