Another period of Smolensk disaster again showed that under the Warsaw memorial it is hard to have a calm, quiet celebration. The Piłsudski Square lacked Jarosław Kaczyński, but there were no whistles, shouts and words by Mariusz Błaszczak about "barbarics".

The 10th day of each period has been akin for years: politicians connected with the Law and Justice, sympathizers of this formation and opponents of the celebrations gather before the monument of the victims of the Smolensk catastrophe in the square of Marshal Józef Piłsudski. This time the script was somewhat modified by the absence of the most crucial character of this ritual.

Jarosław Kaczyński, who over the years led monthly ceremonies, did not appear at the monument. According to the organization staff, the president recovers from a severe infection that required respective days of hospitalization and only late left the hospital. Its deficiency on the square was not only symbolically visible – it besides changed the arrangement of forces at the microphone.

The main talker was taken over by Vice president of the Law and erstwhile head of MON Mariusz Błaszczak. He was the 1 who gave the speech, in which the memory of the victims of the catastrophe spewed with warnings about Russia and the "imperium" story, which was to endanger Poland for decades.

Błaszczak about Russia and "the barbarians", protesting about "the lie"

In his speech, Błaszczak reminded about Katyń, about Russian crimes on Polish officers and about the fact that – in his communicative – regardless of the colors and systems of the "Russian empire" was always a deadly threat to our country. The catastrophe under Smolensk was included in this series of events as another act of past in which Russia acts as an aggressor.

All of this happened with the clear opposition of a group of monthly opponents who have been appearing there regularly for many months. erstwhile the PiS vice president spoke of a threat from Moscow, the cry of a liar was carried under the monument. This is not the first specified situation – both sides of the conflict have already developed a pattern of behaviour: PiS politicians repeat their thesis, and activists respond with whistles, banners and shouts.

This time Błaszczak went to an open verbal confrontation. He stated that those disturbing the celebration were simply “barbarbaric” in European and Christian culture. He besides linked them straight to the "propaganda of imperial Russia", suggesting that they consciously or unconsciously enter into a message beneficial to the Kremlin.

The current power was besides struck. According to the Vice-President of Law and Justice, it is the government that is to enable protesters to act through meetings with them and the deficiency of clear condemnation of their behaviour. Błaszczak suggested that the Minister of Justice does not so much tonify the emotions as he "proud" critics of the month.

– Unfortunately, our celebrations are, like all month, disrupted by people who, in our European, Christian culture, are called barbarians. These are the people who are active in the propaganda of imperial Russia, Putin propaganda. Unfortunately, this is due to the fact that their current power allows them to do so. The Minister of Justice accepts these people. Did he exhort them? Did he tell them that specified conduct was inappropriate? On the contrary. He was emboldening them. But let's be calm. The fact will always prevail," said Błaszczak.

Antoni Macierewicz was at the monument before dawn

Before the main celebrations began, another permanent associate of the Smolensk monthly – Antoni Macierewicz – was present at the monument. The erstwhile head of the MON, convinced for years that there was an assassination in Smolensk, came to Piłsudski Square in the morning, before dawn.

You can see Macerewicz standing next to police officers and a group of activists. 1 of the contestants explains to the officers that a small, 4 - man convention was reported. In turn, 1 of the activists asks the police to "take him for granted" because, as the erstwhile minister claims, he tries to "walk" into their protest area.
