Argentina buys artillery from Switzerland and Israel? [COMMENTARY]

Currently, Argentine barrel artillery is based on 13 Haubic TM VCA self-propelled pieces (Italian Palmaria on the subcarve of the average TAM tank), 108 native towed barrels CITER 155 mm L33 and light Haubic OTO Melara Mod. 56. These solutions are already in usage and require at least partial replacement. To this end, analyses were carried out by the military, which resulted in the creation of a programme of modernization of barrel artillery by acquiring 72-76 fresh structures. As a consequence of the selection and evaluation of individual solutions in May, it was decided to urge the acquisition of the Israeli wheeled armohaubic ATMOS 2000 and the caterpillar Swiss M109 KAWEST. The French CAESARA, among others, was so rejected. The value of the full program is USD 160 million.
