
Apple has confirmed that the iPhone Mirroring feature – introduced a year ago – will inactive not be available in the European Union, besides in the latest strategy macOS Tahoe.
Information was provided to the French Numerama portal during WWDC 2025.
Why?
The reason is constant regulatory uncertainty in the EU. Apple did not give details, but speculates that the company:
- Fears that the European Commission can force Windows to make this function available,
- Or he'll request the ability to mirror Android on Mac,
- or that the sharing of iPhone mirroring on Mac could make macOS considered a "gatekeeper" – a platform subject to stricter EU regulation under the DMA (Digital Markets Act).
Let us remind you what iPhone Mirroring is: This is simply a feature allowing from Maca level (macOS Sequoia and more):
- display the iPhone in a separate window,
- use an iPhone app,
- receive iPhone notifications,
- operate the device remotely without having to scope for the smartphone.
Unfortunately, not in the European Union...
