The State Department authorized the sale of SM-6 missiles utilized by nipponese naval units equipped with the Aegis anti-Balistic system. They are intended to supply the marine component of the rocket shield with greater flexibility in the fight against Chinese and Korean ballistic missiles. The supply value was estimated at $450 million.
