
Polish authorities have taken steps towards greater safety at the border with Belarus, introducing modern technological solutions. As a result, buffer zones and migration policies were strengthened.
The Polish Border defender took over more control of the electronic dam, which besides includes the rivers Swisłocz and Istochanka. The government besides announces further actions to halt illegal border crossings.
The current physical barrier on the border with Belarus is 186 kilometres long and 5.5 metres high. It besides became an electronic barrier, while the monitoring strategy besides includes river sections.
Specific rules and prohibitions
As of March, there is an extended buffer region on the Podlasie section of the 80 km long border. A ban was introduced to stay in a strip up to 200 metres from the border line, while in the case of nature reserves the distance is 4 kilometres.
