German "Der Spiegel" revealed that delicate information belonging to advanced White home officials has appeared online, including telephone numbers, email addresses and passwords. This is another case of data safety breach at the highest levels of U.S. power.

According to "Der Spiegel", delicate data includes, among another things, national safety advisor Mike Waltz, national intelligence manager Tulsi Gabbard and defence secretary Pete Hegseth. German journalists found this information utilizing commonly available search engines and databases from erstwhile leaks. Worse still, many numbers and addresses are inactive current and linked to social media profiles.

Repeated safety problems

It's not the first time the safety of communication in the White home has been questioned. A fewer days earlier, the media reported an incidental involving the Signal application in which advanced officials discussed military plans. As a consequence of a mistake in the conversation, the editor-in-chief of "The Atlantic" was added, which led to a fast publicity of the full case.

Effects of data breach

Cybersecurity experts stress that the availability of data specified as telephone numbers and email addresses increases the hazard of cyber attacks. Hackers may usage this information to install spyware or conduct phishing attacks. In the case of specified advanced government officials, the effects may be serious — from interception of confidential information to threat to national security.

Response and possible consequences

So far there have been no authoritative statements from the White home regarding the latest leak. However, repeated incidents may prompt the administration to introduce stricter safety protocols. Experts propose that better safety of communication and regular training for data protection officials is needed.
