"Determination of the Heroes of June 1976 contributed to the birth of free Poland". Celebration of the 49th anniversary of the Ursus strike

The strike in Ursus broke out on the first shift at 6:00 a.m. First 2 divisions stood up, then the full Ursus crew left the machines. And erstwhile the company's ORMOs shouted to the protesters, "Go to work!", the accidents went on fast. During the June’76 events, 90 percent of the crew were on strike at Ursus. The manager demanded that we return to work. Workers came out on the close major arteries, railway tracks to inform residents of the remainder of the country of the strike. To block the crossing, they yet started the tracks and derailed the locomotive. The militia intervened on 25 June at 9:30 p.m. After a direct clash, a raid on demonstrators began. The detainees were transported to the MO and detention stations, where the alleged "health path" was brutally beaten.
The government of the Polish People's Republic hid from the public the fact of riots, calling them "small, hooliganous pranks". Despite this, he rapidly withdrew from the announced increases, in fear of expanding the protests across the country and proposed to launch a "wide public consultation on price increases and supply difficulties". At the same time, a quick, brutal pacification of the strikes was carried out, inactive claiming that these were only hooligan pranks. The militia units were deliberately not equipped with firearms. Edward Gierek made recommendations to treat militia against workers as a last resort.
During June '76, according to a study prepared by the Ministry of Interior for the needs of the Political Office in 12 voivodships, 112 plants were on strike, more than 80 1000 people participated in the strikes, including 20 800 in Radom and 14 200 in Ursus.
