From 2015, after beginning borders to migrants, Angela Merkel's policy towards refugees was criticised in the CDU organization itself. Now the erstwhile Chancellor welcomed the sharper migration course, which wants to take CDU/CSU and SPD parties, forming the future German government.
There are surely differences in "vocacy and tone," Merkel said on Thursday (10 April) at Deutschlandfunk Kultur radio station. But “if you look closer”, she besides advocated the same objectives.
According to Merkel, it supported combating illegal migration and punishing human smugglers. She wasn't in favour of people risking their lives on the run. As she pointed out, it is besides right that, in consultation with neighbours, refugees should be returned at the borders.
In retrospect, however, Merkel criticised the global community for not paying more attention to the situation of people in exile camps in Syria and Jordan after the beginning of the Syrian war. In her opinion, the planet Food Programme and exile programmes should receive much more support.
