Border activist Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to 8 years in prison by the territory court in Grodno on 8 February. Among another things, Poles are accused of inciting hatred against national backgrounds.
As reported in our portalOn 16 January this year, the criminal trial of Andrzej Poczoputa, a writer and a associate of the board of directors banned by the Lukashenko government of the Union of Poles in Belarus began in Grodno. The conviction was handed down on 8 February, that is, after 24 days of legal proceedings. It is worth noting that the trial began almost 2 years after the arrest of a Pole in March 2021.
At the request of the prosecution, they were classified. The Belarusian prosecutors accused Pochobut of inciting hatred through the rehabilitation of Nazism, as well as calling for sanctions and actions to harm Belarus. In fact, the border activist presented protests that broke out in Belarus after the election, described the aggression of the russian Union to Poland in 1939, and besides conducted public activity on the Polish independency underground during the period of planet War II and the anti-communist uprising.
The conviction that was brought to the Belarusian court is not valid. Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to 8 years of dense prison (lag). According to the court, Poles were to call for actions to harm Belarus by means of online publications and to commit intentional actions to incite hatred against national, spiritual and social backgrounds. The postobut was offered to ask Alexander Lukashenko for pardon, but the Polish activist refused.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki referred to the issue of a border activist:
8 years in prison for Andrzej Pochobut. Inhuman conviction of the Belarusian regime. This is another act of persecution of Poles in Belarus. We will do everything we can to aid a Polish journalist, courageously showing the truth.
The Ministry of abroad Affairs ensures that Polish authorities proceed to make efforts (including those not made public) to release Pochobut.
Polish nationalists inactive remind about the persecutions that meet Poles surviving in the Kresów area. Convicting Pochobut under absurd accusations is another blow to the Polish number by the Belarusian regime. All the more absurd seem to be fed by any of the alleged "right" proŁukashenko sympathies.
In Belarus, an activist of the Polish number Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to 8 years in prison in an establishment of maximum security! Process behind closed doors
Convicted of being Polish and acting for Polishness
For all those who talk about "friendship with Belarus"

The post-communist government of Lukashenka convicts a Pole for allegedly inciting hatred against national background, at the same time another Russian vassal of Kadryov announces a desire to separate Silesia from Poland. It is time to take care of our native leftist activists who accuse Polish nationalists of Nazi sympathy, as well as people who advance Silesian separatistism. Seeing the anti-Polish actions of allied forces with Russia, we cannot stay indifferent to the fact that in our country we are allowed to advance anti-national and anti-state attitudes.
