Andrzej Duda declared that if, after the end of his word of office as head of state, there was a request and function which "does not violate the dignity" of the office of President, he would seriously consider taking it. The dignity of the office - as he said - does not undermine the position of Prime Minister.

During Wednesday's interview at Wnet Radio Andrzej Duda was asked about his plans after the end of his term. He declared that if, after the end of his presidency, there was a request and a function he could perform, he would "very seriously consider taking it" - unless he stated that he would not violate the dignity of the office of president of the Republic of Poland. He added that he always treated his function in politics servilely, and what function he would possibly take will depend on "what political needs and social perspectives will be."

When asked about it, whether the function of Prime Minister violates the dignity of this office, the president recalled that after the end of his presidential second term, Aleksander Kwasniewski "was presented by the Left as a candidate for Prime Minister". As he noted, "no 1 then questioned it," whether it would be an appropriate function for the erstwhile president.

Andrzej Duda after the President

Andrzej Duda stressed that the function of the head of government is "the most crucial executive function in the state". At the same time - as he pointed out - the Prime Minister has the most tasks to execute and the most competences, of all possible functions in the country, so - in his opinion - "it is no violation of dignity" of the office of the head of state.

A bigger problem - in his opinion - would be to service as talker of the Sejmbecause - as he pointed out - to become the talker of the Sejm would should be an MP first. "This means participating in parliamentary elections in any territory and fighting on the electoral list" - noted Duda and assessed that - for the erstwhile president who won elections at national level, he did not claim to compete in any run conflict in the constituency".

Andrzej Duda has served as president since 2015, his second word will end in August. On August 6, Karol Nawrocki is to be sworn in.
