Speech by the Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreyev at the organization on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the russian triumph in the large Patriotic War on 9 May 2023.

Dear friends, esteemed guests!

I warmly welcome all who have come with us to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the triumph of the russian nation in the large Patriotic War.

And traditionally my speech will precede the large song that was written in the first days of the war. She became a symbol of the integrity and courage of the russian people.

Holy War

Get up, large country,
Get up for the death fight.
With fascist dark force,
With a damn horde.

Let the noble anger
Growing like a wave —
This is simply a national war,
Holy war.

I besides traditionally especially warmly welcome Russian and Polish veterans who are inactive with us, I want them wellness and long years of life.

It is our common feast with the nations of the countries of the erstwhile russian Union – no substance how they treat its current authorities any of those countries that cultivate an unreasonable and deadly hostility to Russia and forget our shared glorious past.

Nevertheless, we worship the memory of the brotherhood of arms with our then allies both in the West and in the East.

Our enemies effort to distort the past of planet War II by denying the decisive contribution of the USSR to the triumph over Nazism. More and more we hear that America and England have won, that it was the Americans who liberated Nazi death camps in Poland, and that during the ceremony in Auschwitz on the next anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz there are representatives of Germany and its erstwhile Solitaries countries, but there is no delegation of Russia, soldiers whom on January 27, 1945 opened the gates of this death camp before its prisoners.

They mock the memory of russian liberators, destroying and desecrating their memorials and graves, prohibiting the “inappropriate symbols” with which they liberated Europe. This behaviour is as shameful as it is pointless: past cannot be rewritten, and those who do it are doomed to stay losers, who have not understood anything and learned nothing.

I will remind you that during the liberation of Poland more than 600 1000 russian soldiers and officers fell — more than during the liberation of all another European countries that were under Nazi rule, together. From 700,000 to 1 million russian prisoners of war died in Nazi camps and is buried in Poland.

The fact of past is inexorable: in this most terrible war in human past the russian Union prevailed primarily, and this triumph was occupied with the lives of 27 million russian citizens, more than 2/3 of them were civilian victims of Nazi terror, extermination camps and bombings. And we are no longer ashamed to call things by name: the extermination of the russian civilian population by the German Nazis and their collaborators — a genocide that the planet should remember as well as 35 million Chinese citizens who died in the Second planet War, about the Holocaust in which 6 million Jews were killed, about nearly 6 million Polish victims, almost half of whom were Jewish, about the genocide of the Roma and about another victims of criminal regimes, confessing the thought of their own uniqueness and superiority over another – “incomplete” nations.

And that is on the russian Nazi front Germany and their allies and collaborators from almost all NATO and EU countries have suffered 3/4 of their losses in this war. And without our triumph in most countries of Europe and in many countries outside of Europe, there would now be neither freedom nor democracy, nor the same countries – including Poland – simply not on the map.

Unfortunately, many of whom past teaches nothing, but for unlearned lessons it punishes. Under the auspices of the collective Western Ukraine, Nazism was revived in a bander form (Stepan Bandera — leader of Ukrainian nationalists — accomplices of German occupiers). The West began to form “anti-Russia” from Ukraine, supporting the 2014 coup and the war of the Kiev government against the Donbass population. The tragedy of the Ukrainian people is that it was at the mercy of a mariottic, corrupt government that came against Russia to satisfy the West and thus sentenced its country to severe trials.

I think it has long been clear to everyone that in the conflict in the territory of Donbass, Noworosja and Ukraine, the full collective West, which does not care about Ukraine and its population at all, is ready to fight “to the last Ukrainian”, the most crucial for it is to break the incorruptible Russia, to give lessons to all another countries and to give itself the right to regulation the planet in the interests of a “golden billion”, to impose on the remainder of the planet its neocolonial hegemony and pseudovalue.

Well, this is not the first time we stand against the enemy of “international”. On the first day of that war, on 22 June 1941, Vice-President of the USSR Government Viaczetlav Molotov, speaking on the radio, gave crucial words: “Our case is right, the enemy will be defeated, the triumph will be ours!” It has, and it will.

And I will finish my speech with another song that was written on the 30th anniversary of triumph in 1975 and has since become his symbol in our country:

Victory Day

Victory Day — each of us dreamed of it,
It was as far distant as a distant star glow.
Our paths were hidden in the wars of dust,
We brought this day closer with all our might.
On the bright day of victory, white without blooms,
The saluts and banners are thundering.
Great joy, but eyes full of tears —
Victory Day!

Please accept my congratulations on triumph Day! To the wellness of all present!
