Although this is rather uncommon sometimes political sense comes with age and comes out rather late. This illustrates the example of Leszek Miller – erstwhile Prime Minister and leader of the Alliance of the Democratic Left, and now a political pensioner. erstwhile Leszek Miller withdraws from active political activity, he is amazed by his insights and political assessments. As a political commentator, the erstwhile Prime Minister not only goes against mainstream political views, but even denies the views he expressed as active politicians. This applies in peculiar to the assessment of Poland's abroad policy – especially in the east policy section.
We all know the dubious achievements of Leszek Miller at a time erstwhile he was Minister of Labour and Social Policy and Minister of Home Affairs, and yet Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers. Miller then pursued the most general policy of systemic transformation on both the interior and global policy section, launched after 1989 by the solidarity team. Even if he tried to curb certain negative tendencies, he did so rather ineptly and without much conviction. He was primarily a pragmatist. As a prominent activist of the erstwhile PZPR, he tried to fit in with the fresh era, adopting liberal options in the economy and pro-western course in abroad policy. It is worth noting that Leszek Miller was president of the European Integration Committee from 2001 to 2004 and that Poland joined the EU at the time of his appointment as Prime Minister, which is what the erstwhile Prime Minister inactive considers a life achievement. besides with respect to Poland's accession to NATO Leszek Miller did not rise any doubts, and at the time of his premiere he zealously fulfilled the directive of the American hegemon, the most striking example of which was the shameful decision to send Polish troops to Iraq, besides the pending case of secret CIA prisoners in Poland.
Currently, while already in political retirement, Leszek Miller speaks in a completely different voice, protesting the actions of both the Civic Platform and the Law and Justice. A crucial example of this were the statements of the erstwhile Prime Minister during his last gathering with Sławomir Mentzen in Łódź, to which he was invited as a peculiar guest. During his conversation with Mentzen, Leszek Miller criticized unconditional aid to Ukraine, supported the efforts to end the war, and besides defined the flagism ideology as criminal. For many it is obvious, but not for the political elite of the 3rd Republic of Poland, and even more so for politicians of the rank of Leszek Miller. The erstwhile Prime Minister besides explicitly condemned Israel's genocide in the Gaza Strip, which besides makes the Polish political class very difficult. It was besides interesting to measure the erstwhile Prime Minister of the modern left, who he described as a "cultural leftist" euphemistically. In his opinion, this trend has small to do with the conventional left. Leszek Miller besides mentioned the leader of Andrzej Lepper's self-defense in warm words. Interestingly, Leszek Miller's statements were supported by the participants, who mostly represented the Confederate electorate. The erstwhile Prime Minister was awarded a large circular of applause and even suggested that he could now run for the Sejm from the Confederate letter.
So, did Leszek Miller last “wonderful metamorphosis”? Is he a different man today? Of course not. They have only changed “natural circumstancesIt’s okay. ” Now Leszek Miller can do more. He ceased to be a hostage to the forces that erstwhile elevated him to power and then kept him on political ground for many years. Today, Leszek Miller does not request to fear that he will lose political support or a seat on the ballot by controversial speech. He can yet be himself now. Should we then forget Leszek Miller's political mistakes? Should he be forgiven for many terrible decisions during his reign? Nothing like that. This is all to be remembered! At the same time, however, we must perceive carefully to what the erstwhile Prime Minister is saying. There are fewer politicians of this rank who are able to justice the political reality clearly and, if necessary, to argue the communicative imposed by political mainstream. Thus, Leszek Miller confirmed that he could not only be a pragmatist but besides a political realist.
