Benjamin Netanyahu, Joawa Galanta and Al-Masri were charged with committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the war fought in the Gaza Strip and the Hamas attack on Israel of October 7, 2023. The Court found that disclosure of information and issuing arrest warrants were in the best interests of victims and their families.
At the same time, the ICC unanimously took 2 decisions, rejecting Israel's complaints under Articles 18 and 19 of the Rome Statute, as stated in the Communication. In his first motion, Israel challenged the jurisdiction of the Court in Palestine, while in his second request that all proceedings be held before the Court, including the examination of requests for arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and defence Minister Yoav Gallant, filed by the prosecutor on 20 May 2024.
Netanjahu outraged
The Prime Minister of Israel, referring to the ICC decision, stated that many of his friends, including the United States, expressed its support, which suggests that this step will take serious consequences for the ICC and those who cooperate with it. According to him, the nonsubjective of the ICC was to discourage Israel from defending its country against its enemies.
We won't give in to the pressure. – Netanjahu declared referring to the decision of the court in The Hague, which he called The enemy of humanity.
The Prime Minister's office besides called the order Ridiculous and Anti-Semitic.
Israel completely rejects absurd and false actions and accusations against it by the global Criminal Court, which is simply a politically biased and discriminatory body— the office has proposed.
Joe Biden on the side of Israel
U.S. president Joe Biden found the decision outrageous. He stressed that In principle, its country rejects that decision.
Whatever the ICC says, there is no equivalence between Israel and Hamas. – rated Joe Biden and added – We will always stand by Israel in the face of threats to its security.
Israel and the United States are not members of the ICC and have challenged the jurisdiction of the court over their actions in the conflict. Biden's administration has in the past powerfully opposed the Court's engagement in an investigation into Israel's war in the Gaza Strip. president Joe Biden besides stated in a May message that The request of the ICC prosecutor to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders is scandalous.
They violated civilian rights
An arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister and erstwhile defence Minister Jo’awa Galanta was issued due to their responsibility for crimes against humanity and war crimes. According to the ICC, these crimes were to be committed between at least 8 October 2023 and 20 May 2024.
According to the Court's assessment, the consequences of both policies affected the civilian population in Palestine, peculiarly in the Gaza Strip. Both politicians deliberately and consciously deprived civilians in the Gaza Strip of basic means of survival, specified as food, water, medicines, medical supplies, fuel and electricity.
The charges against Hamas' leader include Extermination, murder, hostage taking, rape and sexual assault during arrest.
