Today the amendment of the alleged Tobacco Act prohibiting the sale of heated tobacco products with a characteristic aroma came into force. Manufacturers and sellers have 9 months to comply with the fresh rules.
The amendment to the wellness Protection Act on the consequences of tobacco and tobacco products of 21 February implements an EU directive which associate States should apply from 23 October 2023.
The fresh rules prohibit the placing on the marketplace of heated tobacco products having a characteristic aroma. Under the Act, they will be able to stay in circulation for a period of no more than 9 months after the entry into force of the Act, i.e. until the second half of January next year.
According to data from the European Commission, the sales volume of heated tobacco products has increased by 2009 percent in fresh years, while their full marketplace share of tobacco products in the European Union is presently 3.33%.
W The Sejm is working on another government draft to amend the alleged Tobacco Act, which will limit e-cigarette sales. The task prepared by the Ministry of wellness prohibits, among another things, the sale of all types of electronic cigarettes and spare containers to people under the age of 18, whether or not the product is made of nicotine. The draft is at the notification phase in the European Commission.
