There are training and conference rooms that will accommodate about 280 people, a sports room, as well as surviving rooms for soldiers. The Naval Academy has enriched itself with a fresh 12-story building. The investment was financed mostly by the Ministry of Defence. Today, a fresh facility was opened in Gdynia. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Defence Stanisław Wzątek.
– In a situation of danger that we are in right now, we must do everything we can to build our abilities. This is not only about method modernisation, but above all about soldiers and commanders who must be perfectly prepared for their tasks. In this system, all military universities have a peculiar function to play – said Deputy Minister Stanisław Wzątek during the ceremony in the conference area of the fresh building Naval Academy.
The deputy chief of the MON stressed that safety in the Baltic region must besides be ensured. That's why we gotta have well organized Navy – added Deputy Minister, reminding that the MW is being upgraded. Stanisław Wąątek spoke about plans related to Orca programme, starting the procedure for acquiring a fresh school unit for AMW and expanding the level of training of sub-strains.
A letter to the authorities of the Academy was written by Deputy Prime Minister and National Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. "The modern infrastructure will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of education. Its beginning means even better conditions for accommodation, learning, investigation and improving applicable skills. I am convinced that this place will become a space in which both professional competence and values, which are the foundation of military service, will be developed," stressed the Deputy Prime Minister in his letter.
The fresh AMW building is located at Grudziński Street in Gdynia. The building was built in 2 years. The investment cost PLN 122 million, most of which (about PLN 117 million) were covered by MON. The building is 50 m tall. From the highest level (76 m above sea level) there is simply a beautiful view of the city's port and panorama.
AMW representatives stress that the building was built not so much for the current accommodation needs, but for the continuous improvement of the university and the enrichment of the teaching offer. The multi-purpose facility will host specialist courses, qualification courses and officers, as well as excellent for professional soldiers, as well as technological conferences. Participants will usage a full of 7 training and conference rooms, which will accommodate about 280 people.
On levels 2 to 10 there are single and double rooms with private bathrooms. The double rooms have a separate wardrobe and separate bedrooms. The beginnings of this investment date back to 2020, erstwhile AMW signed a contract for the execution of project-cost documentation. Alone construction started in late 2022 and already in December 2024 (half a year before the deadline) Mirbud completed the project.
