U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth faces charges of violating national and global laws prohibiting war crimes by declaring that "No mercy" No mercy will be shown to Iranian forces.
The legal definition of this word means that surrendering Iranian soldiers would be executed by American soldiers alternatively than taken prisoner.
U.S. officials and legal experts responded by accusing Hegseth of encouraging war crimes.
"We'll keep pushing. We'll keep pushing, keep moving. No mercy, no mercy for our enemies" – said Hegseth at a press conference on Iran on Friday.
Some U.S. officials and lawyers claim that these statements went beyond strict rhetoric and turned to crime.
