Historians estimation that the way from Canterbury to Rome was about 1700 kilometers long. It took an average of 70 to 90 days to overcome it. In 990, Archbishop Sigeric set out on it. In the following centuries, it was not only a pilgrims' route, but besides a way for the exchange of goods and ideas.
