SEATTLE- Alaska Airlines (AS) flight attendants overwhelmingly approved a new three-year contract that delivers substantial improvements in compensation and working conditions.
The agreement, ratified by 95% of voting members, secures increased pay, enhanced scheduling flexibility, and expanded benefits for the carrier’s 6,900 flight attendants.

The contract introduces boarding pay and includes a ratification bonus, addressing key concerns raised by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), which represents the flight attendants. Scheduling enhancements aim to improve work-life balance, a critical issue in the aviation industry.
This agreement represents the eighth successful labor contract Alaska Air Group has secured with its represented workgroups over the past three years. The company has focused these agreements on enhancing wages, improving quality of life, and supporting long-term business success.
Voter turnout exceeded 90%, demonstrating strong engagement among flight attendants in the ratification process. The near-unanimous approval signals broad satisfaction with the negotiated terms.
The contract acknowledges flight attendants’ crucial role in Alaska Airlines’ broader transformation strategy as the company works to enhance the passenger experience. Management recognizes flight attendants as essential contributors to creating memorable travel experiences and maintaining operational excellence.

Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci highlighted the critical role flight attendants play in the airline’s success following their ratification of a new three-year contract. “One of the many reasons our guests choose to fly Alaska is our flight attendants and the warm welcome, fantastic service and commitment to safety they provide onboard,” Minicucci stated.
The CEO expressed satisfaction with the new agreement, emphasizing its recognition of flight attendant contributions. He acknowledged the AFA negotiators’ determination during the bargaining process and reiterated the airline’s commitment to attracting top talent.
Jeff Peterson, AFA Alaska Master Executive Council President, described the agreement as “a major milestone” that “reflects their essential role in ensuring both safety and operational excellence.” Peterson noted the contract delivers immediate improvements to flight attendants’ lives while establishing groundwork for future negotiations related to the Alaska-Hawaiian Airlines merger.
Taking effect March 2, 2025, the contract includes increased compensation through boarding pay and a market rate adjustment. It maintains the industry’s shortest duty day at 10 hours and 30 minutes, matching only Southwest Airlines. Additional improvements cover scheduling provisions and insurance premium caps.
The previous contract became amendable in December 2022. Unlike contracts in other industries, airline contracts do not expire but remain in effect until a new agreement is ratified.
