On March 9, the crew of the W-3WARM rescue chopper from the Naval Aviation Brigade (BLMW) has already carried out an 8th rescue operation in the Baltic this year. Medical evacuation to land required a man from a ship located 15 nautical miles northeast of Łeba. The action on behalf of the Centre for Marine Operations - Marine Component Command was coordinated by the Emergency Operations Division.

On 9 March before noon, a distress chopper crew at W-3WARM at the 44th Naval Air Base in Darłów was informed that urgent medical assistance was required by a man on a ship located 15 nautical miles north-east of Łeba. After taking off from the airport at 12:10, the crew diverted the device to the action area. Then, after the unit was located at sea, she embarked on a suspension maneuver and surgery to take the patient. At 13.03 pm, the man was already on board a chopper flying towards the mainland. In little than an hour, the device landed at the infirmary landing site in Słupsk where the victim was handed over to a medical rescue team.

In the past of the BLMW, it was the 834th rescue action and 453rd individual whose crews of aircraft and airplanes provided assistance.

RECLAMA

BLMW is the only aviation formation in Poland that keeps constant readiness to carry out rescue operations from the air over the sea. All-day SAR/ASAR duty, within the Polish work region "Convention on the Search and Rescue of the Sea" and "Convention on global civilian Aviation", is performed by W-3WARM and Mi-14PŁ/R chopper crews. The rescue strategy is supported by M28B 1R patrol aircraft crew Bryza on 24-hour work at the airport in Siemirowice close Lęborka.
