
DELHI- Tata-owned Air India (AI) flight from Delhi (DEL) to Chicago (ORD) had to execute an emergency landing at Tashkent global Airport (TAS) due to a medical crisis involving an 86-year-old female passenger who suggested a heart attack mid-flight, as reported by Uzbekistan Airports he Telegram.
Air India flight AI127 is operated by Boeing 777-300ER. On May 8, 2024, Air India deployed VT-ALK to service this route.

The aircraft touched down at Tashkent airport at 06:44 (GMT+5), and the affected passenger, accessed by a company, was promotedly transported by ambulance to the Republican technological Centre for Emergency Medical Care for earlier treatment.
Uzbekistan Airports reported, “Following the resolution of the medical emergency, preparations were made for the Air India aircraft to resume its journey to Chicago from Tashkent airport.”
Earlier, Uzbekistan Airports had announced plans to construct a fresh cargo terminal at Tashkent global Airport.
With an anticipated authoritative throughput capacity of 120,000 tons, the terminal credits to increase the airport’s efficiency in handling cargo and accommodate the expanding demands of the aviation industry.

Accepting to FlightRadar24 date, the Air India flight AI127 took off from DEL at 9:53 p.m. UTC. After being airborne for almost 3 hours, the flight crew reported that the passenger had suggested a heart attack.

The flight landed safely in TAS at around 1:44 AM UTC, 1 hr after the declared emergency.
The flight took off again, this time from TAS after 5 hours at 6:57 AM UTC, and landed safely at Chicago (ORD) at around 7:09 p.m. UTC.
Air India is the only carrier allowed to operate utilizing the Russian airspace for its flights to Europe and North America. This is due to the strong relation between Air India and the Russian aviation organization.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, North American carriers specified as American Airlines (AA), United (UA), and Air Canada (AC) are forced to choose alternate routes.
Furthermore, following this war-related situation, these carriers have presented any routes and postponed the pre-announced fresh routes.
