At the time of this medical issue, the aircraft flew over Kazakhstan and decided to divert to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for better medical assistance.

The flight landed safely in TAS at around 1:44 AM UTC, one hour after the declared emergency.

The flight took off again, this time from TAS after 5 hours at 6:57 AM UTC, and landed safely at Chicago (ORD) at around 7:09 PM UTC.

Air India is the only carrier allowed to operate using the Russian airspace for its flights to Europe and North America. This is due to the strong relationship between Air India and the Russian aviation organization.

Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, North American carriers such as American Airlines (AA), United (UA), and Air Canada (AC) are forced to choose alternate routes.

Furthermore, following this war-related situation, these carriers have canceled some routes and postponed the pre-announced new routes.
