GURUGRAM- Embracing the 2025 International Women’s Day theme #AccelerateAction, Air India (AI) and Air India Express (IX) operated 18 flights on select international and domestic routes managed entirely by all-women teams.
These teams included pilots, cabin crew, roster planning analysts, flight dispatchers, meteorologists, crew controllers, and operations control duty managers.

Air India All Women Crew Flight
The Air India group commemorated International Women’s Day by demonstrating its commitment to workplace inclusivity through a series of initiatives that align with the Tata Group’s broader commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.
The all-women crews operated flights to destinations ranging from Melbourne (the longest route) and London Heathrow to regional destinations including Varanasi, Pune, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Guwahati. International routes also included Dammam, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi.
Air India Group CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson emphasized the organization’s commitment to gender diversity, stating: “At Air India group, we take pride in the fact that women leading from the front is a norm rather than an exception. India leads the world in the number of women commercial pilots and Air India group is significantly contributing to this achievement.”
Women now constitute 46% of Air India’s total workforce, including 16% of pilots—nearly triple the global industry average. Female representation extends across other key operational areas with women comprising 21% of ground services staff, 27% of finance personnel, and 22% of the digital and technology division. These numbers have increased substantially since Air India returned to Tata Group ownership.
As a signatory to the International Air Transport Association’s #25by2025 initiative, Air India aims to increase women’s representation at mid and senior management levels. Air India Express further demonstrates this commitment with women making up over 13% of its pilot workforce and approximately half of its total staff.
The company launched the #HerMatters initiative to help women employees balance professional and personal responsibilities. Supporting activities included webinars and panel discussions on financial independence, return-to-work after maternity, and leadership development programs.
Air India Group announced plans to conduct aviation career sessions at girls’ schools throughout Delhi’s National Capital Region, with company employees sharing their experiences and highlighting industry growth opportunities.
For passengers, Air India offered special promotions from March 1-8, 2025, including fare discounts for bookings with at least one woman in the passenger record and 5% discounts on gift card purchases to encourage women to manage their travel experiences.
