Due to increasing concerns about national security, U.S. president Donald Trump considered creating an extended air defence system, like the Israeli Iron Dome. The project, unofficially called the Golden Dome, assumed the possible engagement of companies from Silicon Valley, including SpaceX Elona Muska, who proposed an innovative model of "subscription" on the operation of a strategy based on hundreds of satellites.
According to the agency Reuters, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed serious concerns about the possible rocket attack, identifying it as the "most catastrophic threat" to the country. In response, he commissioned a concept of an air defence strategy modelled on the Israeli Iron Dome. The aim of this task was to supply comprehensive protection of the U.S. territory against various air threats, including drones, ballistic missiles, maneuvering missiles and hypersonic missiles.
SpaceX and Palantir, technological companies that are crucial supporters of Trump's political support, met high-ranking officials of the American administration, including the Pentagon. During these meetings, they presented a plan for the construction and placement in orbit of between 400 and 1,000 satellites, whose task would be to detect and track rocket motion.
