Air Canada Launches fresh Flight to Europe's Tourist Hub

MONTREAL- Air Canada (AC) has launched a new nonstop flight between Montreal (YUL) and Porto (OPO), expanding its reach in Southern Europe.

The new seasonal route marks Air Canada’s second destination in Portugal, enhancing connectivity between North America and Porto (OPO), a UNESCO World Heritage city in northern Portugal.

Air Canada New Flight

The Air Canada (AC) first flight on the new route, AC928, departed Montreal (YUL) on June 4 at 21:50 and arrived in Porto (OPO) the following morning at 09:20.

Operated by Air Canada’s Airbus A330-300, this route provides three classes of service, Economy, Premium Economy, and Air Canada Signature Class, offering enhanced comfort, lie-flat seats, and premium amenities.

This new route complements Air Canada’s existing Lisbon flights from both Montreal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ), establishing Porto (OPO) as its second Portuguese gateway.

The airline’s strategic expansion aligns with demand for leisure and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) travel between Canada and Southern Europe.

Air Canada’s Montreal–Porto flights will run seasonally until August 28, 2025. Outbound flights (AC928) operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, while inbound flights (AC929) depart Porto on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Schedule Overview (2025):

• AC928: Departs Montreal (YUL) at 21:50 – Arrives Porto (OPO) at 09:20 the next day
  Days: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
  Dates: June 4 – August 28
• AC929: Departs Porto (OPO) at 11:20 – Arrives Montreal (YUL) at 13:45
  Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday
  Dates: June 5 – August 26

The aircraft’s Signature Class offers premium travelers lie-flat seating, gourmet dining, and priority airport services, designed to enhance the long-haul travel experience.

Expansion in Summer 2025

Porto is one of several new or returning destinations in Air Canada’s 2025 European schedule. Other launches include:

• Naples (NAP): Inaugurated in May
• Ottawa (YOW) to London Heathrow (LHR): Resumed in April
• Toronto (YYZ) to Prague (PRG): Begins this week
• Montreal (YUL) to Edinburgh (EDI): Starts late June

These routes reflect Air Canada’s continued investment in its transatlantic network, tailored to meet strong summer travel demand and provide greater access to Europe’s most popular leisure destinations.
