"Aida" directed by Lydia Steier, or the glorification of war

The audience of the Frankfurt Opera saw the fresh production of “Aida” directed by Lydia Steier – forty years after the legendary staging of “Aida” by Hans Neuenfels. We will not find a postcard kitsch from eternal Egypt, and a real opera theatre close to the reformist ideas of Giuseppe Verdi.
