Latest planet economical Forum study "Four Futures for Jobs in the fresh Economy: AI and Talent in 2030" shows how the improvement of artificial intelligence and the level of individual preparation will form the labour marketplace by 2030. The future of employment depends not on technology itself, but on the competences that workers and companies are developing today.

Digital competences and AI

The competitiveness of the labour marketplace is increasingly based on the ability to usage digital tools and knowing how artificial intelligence works. The study shows that AI ceases to be a domain of specialized IT teams and becomes a regular tool for working in an expanding number of professions. Employees who can usage AI to analyse data, automate tasks or support decision-making processes are systematically expanding their value for employers. In practice, this means that cognition of AI tools is increasingly becoming an expected standard alternatively than an additional asset.

Human cooperation with AI

The most unchangeable direction of the improvement of the labour marketplace is simply a model based on human and technological cooperation, not replacing them. Key competences related to the supervision of algorithms, critical evaluation of their results and decision making where context, experience and work are needed are becoming key. The future belongs to workers who can act as “coordinators” of AI's work, not just contractors of regular tasks.

Prepared for continuous learning and change of competence

The life cycle of skills is systematically shortening, and many professions in the current form will vanish or undergo crucial transformation. This means that the key competence is the ability to constantly learn, retraining and flexible transition between professional roles. Employees who treat skills improvement as a continuous process, not a one-time career phase, have a much better chance of maintaining employment in an economical downturn.

Social and managerial competences

With progressive automation, the importance of skills that cannot be replaced with algorithms grows. The value of social competences, specified as communication, cooperation, empathy, leadership and critical thinking, is thus increasing.. It is these that effectively manage teams, build relationships and make decisions in a complex, uncertain environment where technology is support alternatively than the only origin of response.
