On Thursday evening, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence and president of the Polish People's Party, informed on platform X that Zbigniew Ziejewski had resigned as Deputy Minister of State Assets. This decision was made after a discussion with politics and is the consequence of media reports on its past and conflicts of interest.
Conflict of interest and controversial land leases
Virtual Poland revealed that Zbigniew Ziejewski, as Deputy Head of the Ministry of State Activities (MAP), was liable for part of the activities of the National Centre for Agriculture Support (KOWR). At the same time, the lease itself from KOWR hundreds of hectares of land and remains in litigation with this institution. The politician accuses KOWR of uncontractual usage of subsequent hectares and of demolition of part of the land.

A past full of convictions
Journalists of Virtual Poland reached information on convictions issued against Ziejewski. any of them were erased, but the media decided to uncover them, arguing with the social interest.
One of the cases described concerns Ziejewski's activities in Agro and Ziemar. After the liquidation of Agro, Ziejewski took over her estate, including the right to lease hundreds of hectares of land, and founded Ziemar. In 1998, the politician instructed the accountant to issue 17 invoices for the work to be done for the fresh company by the previous. The invoices amounted to a full of PLN 153 thousand. The IRS considered it fraud, and Ziejewski, his erstwhile associate and accountant, were charged with falsifying documents. In November 2007, Ziejewski was sentenced to a fine of PLN 5,000.
Earth devastation and environmental problems
Another case concerns the demolition of more than 10 hectares of land leased by Ziejewski. In 2019, during the construction of the fresh City of Lubawski bypass, the rubble and land were stored on its land. Both the NAWR and the Provincial Environmental Protection Inspectorate confirmed illegal landfilling of waste and the change in water relations. The case is inactive pending, and the Chief Administrative Court is due on 18 March to consider a cassation complaint against the judgement of the Olsztyn court which obliged Ziejewski to dispose of the waste at his own expense.
Response of the Ministry of State Acts
The Ministry of State Actors claims that at the time of Ziejewski's nomination it was not aware of his current court cases or criminal sentences from the past. The curious individual himself considers that the questions concerning his interests and judicial matters are ‘tender and search only to confirm the above-mentioned thesis’.
Summary
Zbigniew Ziejewski's resignation from the function of Deputy Minister of State Assets is simply a consequence of the disclosure of his controversial past and conflicts of interest. The litigation in which he was active has sparked broad media and public interest. This decision demonstrates the importance of transparency and accountability in public life.
