At least 1 100 Afghans who, during a NATO mission in their country, worked as safety guards for the Dutch go to court to force evacuation. After the Taliban took over power, they hide, change their shelters and claim to be in danger of death or imprisonment, the paper “AD” reported today.

The case was publicised by erstwhile president of the military trade union AFMP Anne-Marie Snels, who had been active in assisting Afghan colleagues of the Netherlands for years. As he emphasizes, many of them hide and decision from place to place to avoid detention, torture or death. According to her account, respective people – around 15 – were already murdered and others were detained and abused.

After the fall of Kabul, the Netherlands evacuated about 4.5 1000 people, including interpreters, embassy staff and any of the global mission associates. However, this trial was stuck and any of the bodyguards remained in Afghanistan. Last year 42 of them won at first instance a case against the Dutch State, but the appeal court overturned that judgment.
