What was the activity of The Independent Order of unusual Fellows “Fire”? How did it work? What was the case with Jacob Muszkat? Was she 1 of the manifestations of the anti-mason campaign?

The online lecture answered these and many another possible questions. Dr. Tomasz Krok entitled "The Afer of the Warsaw Lodge unusual Fellows "Ogniwo" 1937/1938 as part of the cycle "Warsaw wanderings with history".

The premiere took place on 17 June 2025 at 5 p.m.

The speech was devoted to the analysis of the capital's activities of The Independent Order of unusual Fellows "Fire" in interwar Poland, with peculiar emphasis on the case of its associate – lawyer Jakub Muszkat. Based on the documentation of the lodge, police materials, literature of the subject and the then press, the profile of unusual Fellows was presented as a paravolnomular organization operating in the space of discreet associations of the Second Republic. The aim of the speech was to place the Order in a wider socio-political scenery of the era and to show the dynamics of its functioning. The subject of the Muszkat process was besides utilized to outline the mechanisms in which the anti-Masnon run of the time entered, yet leading to the illegalisation of free-mural and paramason movements in 1938.

The series “Warsaw hikes with history” is organized by the IPN Branch in Warsaw in the Chamber of Memory at Strzelecka Street 8.
